(3D) BD-ISO stuttering solution

On request of several users and Xtreamer, I got my hands on various 3D BD-ISO-files.
But due to the many complaints of these file not working or stuttering I decided to do some tests.
I'm streaming those files from my main PC to my Prodigy over Gb wired LAN without issues, no stuttering, no lag.
Many of you experience stuttering or lag though.
I have tested :
Avatar 3D BD-ISO that you can download from this link.
Smurfs 3D BD-ISO download using this nzb-file:
SMURFS 3D mVC DTS HD MA5 1 3DV.zip (2.39MB)
Number of downloads: 93
The_Lion_King 3D BD-ISO download using this nzb-file:
THELIONKING3D.par2.zip (2.43MB)
Number of downloads: 32
Thor_3D_Blu-ray_DTS-HD MA7.1.iso download using this nzb-file:
Thor 2011 1080p 3D Blu-ray AVC DTS-HD MA7.1.zip (3.88MB)
Number of downloads: 67
Except for The_Lion_King 3D BD-ISO, that was stuttering, the other 3
files played flawless. As you may know, Avatar is a high bitrate movie,
so if there would be a file causing stuttering, it would probably be
Avatar, but NO.
I decided to look into this weird issue so here's what I did.
I started by mounting the The_Lion_King 3D BD-ISO-file in the virtual drive of Alcohol120%, but ofcourse, any virtual drive application will do, like Deamon Tools, Virtual CloneDrive e.a.
After that, my next step was to copy the BDMV & CERTIFICATE folders from the ISO to a new folder on my harddrive.
I ran Mediainfo
on the BDMV-folder but it didn't show me anything strange or aberrant,
so I decided to try and create a new ISO out of these folders.
For creating the new BD-ISO, I used IMGBurn. This application is free and was made by the same guy that developed DvdDecrypter many years ago.
The major advantage of using IMGBurn is the fact it recognises BR
folder-structures and it has most settings for creating the perfect ISO
already programmed inside, so if you select the BDMV & CERTIFICATE
folders, it automatically recognises the BR file-structure and it will
then guide you through the most applicable settings.
It took about 15 min. to create the new BD-ISO and when finished I tried to stream it to my Prodigy..
Surprise !! NO more stuttering... NO more lag..playing excellent and flawless, just like the other 3 files.
In no way have I altered any of the files in the folders or removed anything from it.
This leads me into the conclusion that some applications out there, like
Ultra-ISO, create ISO-files that are in some way, not following
standards and thus cause problems, in this case stuttering.
I have included the necessary download-links and files in this post so you can try / test for yourselves.
Be aware that you need to have a usenet-account to be able to download the files that are provided by the nzb-files.
Also, I think that, if you are on wireless, you should be realistic and forget about trying to stream files like this.
It is merely impossible for most users to stream 1080p-content over
wireless as it is, not to speak about the higher bitrate (3d) BD-ISO's.
You can find all necessary info about my networking gear in my
signature, between Prodigy and my main-pc from which the files are
streamed are the router and both TP-link Gb-switches.
The main PC is build around a Asus P7P55D-E EVO motherboard, a Intel Core i7 870 CPU, 4 Gb DDR3 Ramm.
The network is wired using Cat5E cables.
I created this post to show you that it is not always directly an issue
of firmware or hardware ( the player ) that causes the issue you
encounter.
We all know, most of us ( that includes me too
) get their files from the internet some way, using torrent-network, usenet or file-sharing servers like Rapidshare etc.
There is NO guarantee that the files you obtain are encoded conform
standards, that is why you need to do some investigating before posting
your issues.
This not only goes for stuttering but also for audio-issues etc. Investigate before posting please.
We advise to use the earlier linked Mediainfo to analyse your
problem-files as it will specify the most important information as
sampling bitrate, used codecs, re-frames, video-tracks, audio-tracks,
subtitles etc.
