Currently NTFS external drives are read-only, we are working to add NTFS write support.
More HDD will be added in the next software updates.
1.2 e-TRAYz won’t start after first shut down
Check if there is a jumper on your HDD 3&4 pin (power management) and if there is, pull it out.
1.3 Unable to connect printer or WiFi antenna
The upper slot is USB 2.0 – for Wireless LAN and USB External storage
The Bottom slot is USB 1.1 – for printer server and USB External storage
2. Software installation
2.1 Finding e-TRAYz by dedicated software
2.1.1 When you can login to the e-TRAYz home webpage:
2.1.1.1 Login to the e-TRAYz Webpage using the sysadmin ID.
2.1.1.2 Go to "Setting>System>Reset", choose "Factory Reset" option and click "Apply" button.
2.1.1.3 And then try to install e-TRAYz using the installer program.
2.1.2 When you cannot login to the e-TRAYz home webpage:
2.1.2.1 Power down the e-TRAYz.
2.1.2.2 Push "Reset Button"on the back side of e-TRAYz hardware, and Power-On, concurrently.
2.1.2.3 The USB LED will blink when booting (RAM disk mode) finished.
2.1.2.4 And then try to install e-TRAYz using the installer program.
2.1.3 When options "2.1.1", "2.1.2" are not working.
2.1.3.1 Remove the HDDs from the e-TRAYz.
2.1.3.2 Connect the HDDs to your PC and format the HDDs.
2.1.3.3 Insert the formatted HDDs into the e-TRAYz.
2.1.3.4 Boot the e-TRAYz.
2.1.3.5 And then try to install e-TRAYz using the installer program.
2.1.4 HDD compatibility issues.
Certain HDD have a long spinup time therefore e-TRAYz bootloader cannot detect them.
In this case, there are two possibilities:
2.1.4.1 Using the same HDD.
2.1.4.1.1 Remove the HDDs from e-TRAYz.
2.1.4.1.2 Connect the HDDs to your PC and format the HDDs.
2.1.4.1.3 Disconnect the HDDs from PC.
2.1.4.1.4 Insert only one HDD into B Slot.
2.1.4.1.5 Install the e-TRAYz software and use "Linear Mode" when setting up the HDD. Then continue with the configuration.
2.1.4.1.6 If you want to use two hard disks:
2.1.4.1.6.1 Turn off the e-TRAYz and insert the 2nd HDD (formatted) into A Slot.
2.1.4.1.6.2 Change the HDD configuration to add to "RAID" or "Using as a separated disk".
2.1.4.2 Use other HDDs with shorter spinup time.
2.2 Long Formatting time
1. Start the installer program.
2. Input the installation key.
3. If formatting takes more than a few minutes connect another switch/hub/router or connect the e-TRAYz directly to your PC.
4. Go back to step 1.
2.3 “Webpage cannot be displayed”
If you successfully completed the installation, the e-TRAYz automatically
reboots. If a “webpage cannot be displayed” message appears, there are two options:
2.3.1 Http service ports (8080 and 8000) are blocked or are being used by a IP sharer or a network router.
Change the configuration of the IP sharer or your network router.
2.3.2 IP sharer gave e-TRAYz a different IP address after it rebooted.
Check the IP address by:
2.3.2.1 Checking DHCP IP assignment of the IP sharer.
IP sharer shows which IP is assigned to a specific DHCP client.
2.3.2.2 Use "Windows Start Menu > Network" to find e-TRAYz IP address.
Windows vista, 7 can find uPNP devices in the network by using Network menu.
Window XP can use uPNP function by enabling it.
2.4 Factory reset procedure
2.4.1 Backup
your data. This process will format your hard drives.
2.4.2 Download and extract the installer program.
2.4.3 Turn off the e-TRAYz.
2.4.4 While holding the Reset button on the back, switch on e-TRAYz. It will
boot into RAM disk mode.
2.4.5 Run the installer program.
2.4.6 Finish setting up e-TRAYz after the web interface is launched by the installer.
2.5 Unable to install software from MAC OS
2.5.1 Use a virtual machine and load up Windows XP/Vista/7.
2.5.2 Install from the Windows virtualization.
2.5.3 You may delete windows OS when installation is over.
2.6 Installation software freezes at 0%
There are two possible cases:
2.6.1 OS volume of the HDD is not mounted: it can be a HDD compatibility issue, or an HDD error.
2.6.1.1 Check HDD model in ours computability list, if it is compatible - mount the HDD in bay B and run the installation again.
2.6.1.2 If it’s not listed, try another HDD.
2.6.2 Unstable network. Do one of the following or both.
2.6.2.1 Check IP sharer setup of DHCP
2.6.2.2 Replace network cable.
3. Network issues
3.1 Sysadmin can’t use sudo
In Official V1.0 software sysadmin account cannot use sudo command.
Instead, login as "root" using the same password as your sysadmin account.
3.2 Can’t rename/delete/move
files with SSH due to permissions restrictions
After attaching a USB disk to the USB connector and copying data by SSH a user cannot rename, delete or move files and\or folder inside /home/Public/Series/
Login to the e-TRAYz web GUI and click the e-TRAYz Web button. It will allow you to manage your files.
3.3 "Cannot connect server"
After shutting down e-TRAYz for the first time a “cannot connect server” massage appears when trying to connect to e-TRAYz.
3.3.1 Put HDD in Bay B.
3.3.2 Restart.
3.4 Unable to share folders with a user
Make sure the user name doesn’t have any capital letters in it.
4. Applications
4.1 Constructing a web site
4.1.1 Create a webpage with a website editor program.
4.1.2 Login to the e-TRAYz with sysadmin user and go to the e-TRAYz Disk/WWW
folder.
4.1.3 Uploading : Upload your web pages to the 'WWW' folder.
4.1.4 Homepage : The homepage file name should be "index.php",
"index.htm", or "Index.html".
4.1.5 Checking: Start a web browser and enter
the address "http://device IP(or Domain Name registered in DDNS)/".
4.1.6 You should see your website.
4.1.7 If you can’t connect check you router to make sure that port 8000 is forwarded.
4.2 Unable to run
a website
Port forward "outside" port 80 to "inside" port 8000 of the e-TRAYz and you will be able to access your website from the outside using "me.myetrayz.net" address.
4.3 Unable to synchronize folders from e-TRAYz to a computer using SyncFolder
The program is currently syncing folders only between two e-TRAYz devices. In the future syncing will be available between e-TRAYz and computers.
4.4 Unable to synchronize folders from e-TRAYz to e-TRAYz
You must do handshake in both e-TRAYz devices in order for the sync to work.
4.5 How to change MySQL root password
The default System root password is the same as sysadmin password but MySQL root doesn’t have a password (empty). To set your own password, follow this procedure:
4.5.1 e-TRAYz login using by SSH with root ID
4.5.2 MySQL DB installation
- /usr/bin/mysql_install_db
4.5.3 MySQL start
- /etc/init.d/mysqld restart
4.5.4 MySQL root password change
- /usr/bin/mysqladmin -u root password REAL_PASSWORD
4.5.5 MySQL login
- mysql -u root -p REAL_PASSWORD mysql
4.6 eConnector network password failure
4.6.1 Start the MMC with the snapin for the local group policy
4.6.2 Under computer configuration\windows settings\security settings\local
poliys\security options\network security:lan manager authentication level\
4.6.3 change the option to send lm &ntlm
4.7 Unable to install eConnector on windows 64bit
eConnector does not support windows 7 64 bit due to a Windows Driver Authentication issue.
We are working on it now. However its possible to use eConnector, even though you will receive error messages during the installation. Some features may not work (such as icons for share, sync).
4.8 e-Connector interrupts network connections on windows XP
Symptoms:
After installing e-Connector (1.0.0) network connection doesn’t work anymore.
After rebooting the device you don’t receive IP address.
Repairing the connection fails.
Repluging the jack doesn’t help.
Deactivating network reactivation fails.
After uninstalling e-connector network connection works fine again.
Solution:
Since e-Connector uses NIC intermediate driver, some complications may occur
with network related drivers.
Please check the following:
a. If VMware is installed on the PC.
b. If the local network configuration use "QoS Packet Scheduler". If so try to remove the "QoS Packet Scheduler" option.
4.9 eDownloader and Rapidshare premium account
After pasting links to e-Downloader the second download is interrupted and marked as completed or the file that was downloaded is a HTML file and marked as completed.
Go to your account athttp://www.rapidshare.comà Premium Zone à Settings à Check "Direct downloads,
requested files are saved without redirection via RapidShare"
4.10How to setup the mail server
4.10.1 - In the web GUI main menu click on Setup Wizard
4.10.2 - Choose Mail server option in the bar below
4.10.3 - Select Gmail or MSN or any other mail service
4.10.4 - In the mail ID box insert the full e-mail address, for example - etrayz@gmail.com
4.10.5 - Insert your password
4.10.6 - Send a test mail
4.10.6.1 - If successful click Apply
4.10.6.2 – If not open port 587 and go back to step 1
