I have seen a few people on the forums asking how to get root access on this version of Android and I didn't find any answers whilst searching so thought I'd share this. I have just tried the following instructions for another MIPS based android device and so far so good. Superuser is working and I have been able to change LCD density, use Titanium Backup and uninstall some of the apps that have been installed to System such as Skype (even though we could do that before via ADB anyway!!). Not tested much else as my wife is bugging me to stop hogging the TV

This is not my guide, not my files and I'm in no way responsible for it or what you do with it
As previously mentioned I haven't tested it thoroughly, If you want Root access give it a go at your own risk and feedback to the group. If you don't know what root access can do for you, I'd recommend leaving it alone.
I didn't install the ADB from the guide because I already had it installed from working with my Android phones.
In step 4 you obviously don't want to install the drivers provided because those are for the specific Tablet the guide was written for.
After installing ADB, because we can't use the USB cable like you would with your Android phone you'll need to connect ADB over network using the command "adb connect <IP Address of Prodigy>"
The app it mentions to test whether Root is working froze for me so I wouldn't recommend trying it, just install your favorite Root apps and see if it works.
