Update status for Ultra 2

The Ultra 2 is in mass production as we write this post.

It means that it will be available in your hands in a matter of days.

We must share with you the excitement our lab experienced with this new wonderful product.

We finally made a device, that utilizes Intel platform with very high specs, to be used just as a Media Player and at the same time it will serve you as normal PC.

Using it as a media player based on the latest most advanced XBMC build is something anyone who will buy the deluxe edition will be able to experience right of the box without no installation. It comes built-in .

Using it as a PC for Windows or anything else you have in mind can be done once you buy an internal HDD 2.5" and put it inside the machine and installing Windows 7.

Whatever the case maybe, users of Ultra 2 will be able to enjoy:

(1) The most advanced media player platform of XBMC (we use some slim build made around linux called openelec)
(2) BluRay connectivity in Windows 7
(3) Standard PC experience with windows 7 (provided you put Hard Disc inside the machine and install it yourself)
(4) Gaming

How is it done ? How can use the ultra 2 as a PC while i know it comes from factor as an XBMC media player ?

The answer is simple :

The device comes built-in with an SSD 32GB module that has already inside the XBMC ready to run optimized and working. The BIOS UEFI is set to boot the machine from this SSD module.

Should user want to use it for Windows as a normal PC - all the user will have to do is to set the machine in the BIOS to boot from the HDD you manually install yourself.

As simple as that:

Default Boot = SSD module = XBMC
Manual Boot = Hard Disc with windows 7

Can the Ultra 2 by used in place of another old PC in my office or my kids room ?

Short answer : YES

Long Answer as follows :

When we designed the Ultra 2 we knew that the market is flooded with many types of PC machines and various configurations that can offer the end user similar price or even slightly better specs. The problem with these alternatives were that this kind of PC are big, bulky, noisy, and normally utilize a mixture of components that not necessarily designed to work together and normally the local supplier in your country find it better for them to distribute. And the result is that you will have a computer that is old school style even it is "new". The ultra 2 is by far better and more advanced.

The Ultra 2 is designed to be first as compact. So your desk environment is not cluttered with a small refrigerator style case with noisy fan. It was designed to be Dual-operation machine. It means that if you connect it to the TV it is serving you as a Media Player and when you connect it to the PC Screen it is very capable Windows PC.

The Ultra 2 is running from an SSD module. No machine in the world except apple PC does that.

Normally when you buy a no-brand PC or one of the lower end (what is normally called Entry Level) PC configuration, you have no one to talk to as there is no 1 company manufacturer that stand behind the product. It is a mixture of component and you have the local shop to talk to. With the Ultra 2 it is not the case, not only you have directly the manufacturer on the other side of this forums, you have one of the most active communities in the industry to get you along.

And the cherry on top of the cream : the price of the Ultra 2 you are getting a built in remote control, built in wifi, built in Bluetooth and very low power consumption unit on similar or lower price to anything else.

Ok . We are not HP and our devices are normally perceived as "for media player" . We dont invest millions in marketing and advertising campaigns neither. But the at the end of the day, the Ultra 2 is still probably the best value for money you get for any PC in the industry. Should you only be able to stop for a minute and think if you are able to stop letting marketing brain washing effort to make you think rationally.


For your info : we contributed a lab of 20 Ultra 1 machines to a school in Korea and they are very happy it with it. It is not used there as media player at all. They use it as normal PC that replaced the bulky old PC they had before.

We - the Xtreamer company employees - are people just like you - the user. We have kids that go to school and nag us for a new PC, we have family members running small business, and we enjoy media very much the same way. When we designed the Ultra 2 we wanted to be able to recomend our relatives and friends a machine with a simple name and look and feel that can do it all. We also had a problem to recommend specs or to review specs offered to our relatives from a local PC dealer.


The Ultra 2 is the ultimate answer for it all.
