Well mate, seems that GCC update is a no longer delay ;)

But please take sometime to see the big picture, It's friday, so ...;)
I can work using my local library until then, so anyone else can do
Yey man, One day I will have to ask you for some guidance in order to compile/create
a package for this little funny box.

I would have that beer too, maybe twice

Well. I let vpeter play with glibc. I failed to manage to compile it. Maybe he will have more luck.

In the mean time I managed to get the sources for firefly and will try to apply patch to it.

Eh. Also no go. I need latest SVN source but their server is still down.

Here's the code...;)

A kind member of Roku forums,Dupondt, pointed me to it;)
Also he was to kind to suggest that forked-daap is the way to follow as it is a revised code of firefly.

But, would be nice to have the firefly working in order to buy time for the GCC update.
Hope it helps,

J.

Hey. Emm. It didn't compile from me. Some stupid errors during compilation.

Can you write down exactly what files you change? I found at least two "solutions" for this and not sure which one to use. I'll retry the compilation and make a new APP Installer package for it.

OK. I have just uploaded v2 of the package with included patch.

I changed also many others things. Mainly folders where it gets installed and updated old libraries.

Main change is how its autostarted. Now I am no longer using chkconfig but custom made version of it that R&D made for me called epkgconfig. The startup scripts are no longer in /etc/init.d but in /home/epkg/etc/init.d.

Sadly this isn't working in firmware 1.0.5 so in order for this to fully work you will need firmware v1.0.6 which should be released soon.

It might still work in fw v1.0.5 but requires some proper folders and symbolic links:

mkdir -p /home/epkg/etc/rc.d/init.d
mkdir -p /home/epkg/etc/rc.d/rc0.d
mkdir -p /home/epkg/etc/rc.d/rc1.d
mkdir -p /home/epkg/etc/rc.d/rc2.d
mkdir -p /home/epkg/etc/rc.d/rc3.d
mkdir -p /home/epkg/etc/rc.d/rc4.d
mkdir -p /home/epkg/etc/rc.d/rc5.d
mkdir -p /home/epkg/etc/rc.d/rc6.d
cd /home/epkg/etc/
ln -s rc.d/init.d init.d

You need to type this before installing or upgrading to new version.

I left old version inside just in case someone has problems with this new one.

Please test this if working with iTunes 10.

Thank you.

I installed new version, but cannot start app. Now I cannot uninstall, reinstall, start.

Now I deleted all mt-daapd files and tried new install (modified xml file so it doesn't try to move /etc/init.d/mt-daapd to mt-daapd.bak):

Error executing commands!

tar -xvf epkg/firefly.svn-1696-2.tgz -C / >/dev/null 2>&1...OK

Program successfully installed!

epkgconfig --add mt-daapd...FAILED!

Error setting autostart

Problem installing / ininstalling Firefly.

First a big thx for the incredible work ;-)

I Have some problems with firefly. First I was unable to enable autostart of Firefly. I then installed your patch and now I'm completely unable to start/stop/uninstall the application. Guess there's some problem with actual directories etc. Is there a way (behind the scene) I can remove the Firefly application and let app-installer recognize it?

Yes. This is common problem when ugprading to 1.0.7 with formatting on OS partition. All startup scripts get deleted but since I check for app binary he still think application is properly installed.

I will fix all the package over time to survive firmware upgrade in next days/weeks (it's a long process).

For now you can solve this by typing this in SSH:

rm /home/epkg/sbin/mt-daapd

You will have option then in APP Installer to install it again. If you want to save database click on Backup first, then use that SSH command and after installing it and before starting it click Restore.

I tried:

"rm /home/epkg/sbin/mt-daapd"

but i get:

"Error executing commands!

mv /etc/init.d/mt-daapd /etc/init.d/mt-daapd.bak...FAILED!
Error installing application"

What else?

Try:

mv /etc/init.d/mt-daapd.bak /etc/init.d/mt-daapd
