Interesting, that worked.

For other users, click on the version number 0.5.3-1 and a drop down list apears then choose the older version install that, and then upgrade.

Still haven't formatted my eTRAYz :).

But I did update SABnzbd to latest 0.5.4. Not that major update.

Today I fresh installed my eTRAYz and made fresh package of 0.5.4 SABnzbd.

It should now work directly and old version is not needed anymore.

I am just now uploading new package of SABnzbd with some "experimental" changes. Python is now available in APP Installer as standalone installation and it gets installed fully on Data partition. Same for all the files SABnzbd needs including extra Paython libraries.

It requires firmware 1.0.7 and if you ugraded to it without formatting data partition you need to apply the fix.

Please someone test this and give me feedback about it. The goal is to keep everything in Data partition and no longer on OS so it will survive the partial firmware upgrade in the future.

Remember. Install Python from APP Installer first.

Works great!

(.. if you know that you have to install python first)

Yes. Well. It's still "experimental".

But very good progress that opens lots of new options for me.

maybe it's a good idea to alert the user if the package isn't installed yet.

I will. First I need to test this. If all is working I will make a suggestion to add my compilation of Python inside firmware (on Data partition).

I got a bit confused when the updated version didn't start, then I saw this thread about it requiring Python.
After I got that installed (after eventually finding it in Other->Developer Tools) it works great!

Will dependencies be common in the future? It might be useful to list them on the app if so :)

Usualy I add what is required inside the package itself. Small libraries for example. But Python is 18MB. 2MB for SABnzbd so that would be around 20MB to download just to get SAB running. For now it needs to be standalone package.

If this works fine I'll urge R&D to add my version of Python into next firmware.

I've been using it for a couple of days now and my experiences are:

1. Works just fine.
2. Compared to Nzbget, Sabnzb+ downloads slower, but is a lot less CPU intensive. With Sabnzb+ I max at ~600 kB/s, with Nzbget ~900kB/s (the avgarage speed is also more stable/better in Nzbget). However, when downloading with Nzbget the whole system gets so slow to the point that it almost becomes unresponsive and I can only do other stuff at ~300 kB/s, which is unacceptable. With Sabnzb+ downloading I can do stuff with half my usual speed, i.e. ~6MB/s. Just for reference; when downloading with my regular PC, I download at ~8 MB/s.
3. Combined with Sickbeard and Couchpotato, the black-hole option (save nzb to dir and make Sabnzb+ watch it) seems to be working best. Couchpotato and Sickbeard also have a "send to Sabnzb+" option, but it works unreliably I've noticed (at least for me).
4. The larger the file the lower the download-speed. Larger files seem to be more CPU-intensive.

You need to install Python and restart sabnzbd. This stumped me for a while....

Since the upgrade to firmware 1.0.7 it looks like SABnzbd is disturbing the movies I am watching. With 1.0.5 I was able to watch a movie and to let SABnzbd do its thing (downloading and unpacking) on the background, since 1.0.7 the movies are having trouble like standing still for some seconds.

Can I fix this?

Parity check and unpacking takes a lot of CPU power (which eTRAYz doesn't have). I doubt it ever worked fine to stream and let sab do its work.

probably something i'm ignoring, but I can't seem to get sabnzbd to even start up on my etrayz. When ever I go "Launch App" in the App Installer part, it directs me to http://IP ADDRESS:8888/sabnzbd and Firefox says it has a problem loading the page.

Any reason for this?
I have Transmission working fine on it atm.
