Xtreamer road map Skeleton - (Target time for beta releases)
This days are final but may be subjected to short delay of 1 or 2 days give and take.
(official releases will be 1 week later)
7.9 (1.03)--------> 12.10(2.0 new SDK based) --------> 30.10(2.1 new SDK based)
=====================================================
VERSION 1.03 (will be announced to beta-testers group )
next week - on the 7.9.2009 we will announce new firmware based on the old SDK
This firmware includes the following main changes amongst few other little issues :
(1) We added the ability to add shortcuts to shared folder across your network.
you will be able to click the FUNC key on your RC and add any folder you wish while you browse the media library. Same ability was added to the Settings menu.
The result will be it will be easier to browse you your desired targets on the network.
You will see these shortcuts on the top list of your Media library as well as on the new menu option of your sources screen.
(2) We added the ability to lock a folder with password. In your media library you will be able to click the FUNC key and lock / unlock a folder or even a file playback with your desired password. The master password will be reset from the settings menu.
(3) We added the same mechanism of folder.jpg as we all know it is widely used on other media player. User will be able to designate a folder a unique picture by simply adding folder.jpg file inside the folder.
This firmware is currently based on SD GUI.
Next firmware update (with the new SDK ) will be based on HD screen resolution
and will allow us better power to add more visuals to the GUI and enhance the user exprience - expect XBMC wide icon inside folders, XMJ mechanism embeded inside the firmware and very impressive Music JukeBox that supports full Internet radio.
(4) We added Subtitle Color in the SUBT menu. Color control will be by defined presets, by powerful RGB flexible control . We even added ability to control outline color for anime movie fans.
On the next SDK firmware we will add to this menu the manual ability to select SRT files from the media library, we will add also the power to define the desired font for the subtitle. We will be able to fully support .IDX + .SUB . as this require core system change we could not present this now and only next SDK firmware that will be published on the 12.10.2009.
(5) We improved the GOTO menu. You will be able to see now time bar, and skip time segments of +15 sec +30 + 1 min + 5min and vice versa go backward.
the same function will be supported on the OSD by clicking the arrow keys.
(6) NFS mount speed was fixed. Unmount will be easier with a designated functions also.
(7) All System font was changed and now support fully the UTF 8 protocol so as to enable all european to experience no problem with strange sized letters in SRT.
(8) UPnP playback for mp3 files were fixed as well as the FTP access to the machine.
(9) We fixed some minor text errors and added MIME icon support to .ra + .rm files
(10) We added to the main screen the ability to get visual noticifaction if the WIFI/USB/HDD/LAN/UPnP/SIGNAL power are connected. If you will not see them on screen it means they they are not active .
(11) Bookmarking mechanism is under going work also. We are not sure we will be able to finish it on time and introduce it this time but we hope we do. Whatever the case may be you will be able to bookmark a file and add it to your favorite list (playlist in the sources menu)

I have very good feelings for the future of xtreamer...
Raw Firmware

please spare us with your hostility !
Pass through will be done in version 2.0 on 12.10.2009
Full encoding cannot be done for now - even we did a serious attempt to acquire the license as Dolby and DTS companies blocked our attempts to license it. They want it only to Blu-Ray market. the device can do it . we cannot be subjected to legal proceedings because of it.
No RTL device can do either.
Pass through (which is a compromise we had to live with ) will allow you to play this kind of files through your AMPLIFIER .
Just imagine we have the firmware solution to do it , but cannot release it. We find it frustrating too.

Now this is not good implementation. Time skip should be directly available via cursor keys without pressing any additional keys(GOTO). Current direct subtitle size/position setting is not nessesary since once set they are saved, and not often changed. That should be moved into menu, even more now when we hame more powerful subtitle control in menu anyway, and instead time skip should be brought to direct access via cursor keys.
Second: Still nothing about MKV chapter direct skip with >>|, |<< keys just as DVD chapers. Since device already can see MKV chapetrs(they are visible in GOTO menu if present), it should be really easy to implement

+1 to this! Cursor keys for skipping or jumping 15/30 seconds ahead! Just like the arrow keys when using a player such a KMPlayer on the PC.
Fix ZOOM!
Also we never really got the Zoom fixed. We had a basic and functional ZOOM. Then it was given added controls but we lost functionality and ease of use.
We need a ZOOM option that combines BOTH. (ie. Press Zoom once and size/position menu pops up, but press ZOOM again it would in pre-defined increments (i.e. zoom 1x, twice 1.5x, three 2x, four 4x) or some other solution to allow both expert customization but also basic functionality and ease of use. Bring back the original incremental zoom while still allowing expert users to further customize and fine tune. HiJack touched on this earlier back when the zoom was changed but it has not since been addressed. We need a flexible zoom that provides functional ease of use. The zoom button should still incrementally zoom in when pressed as before, but the menu for more delicate changes should stay too.

But I agree about the zoom. It completely sucks in this current state, also what we need is "fit to screen" option.

Yippee !! My Onkyo-607 says yeah !! Most people are asking for the pass thru feature and don;t really care for the decoding of the HD streams.
