Source Code of the Xtreamer will be availabe to community

Postby xtreamer » Thu Jun 04, 2009 3:55 pm

At Xtreamer, we utterly believe in Power of Freedom and community... but what does that mean to you?

For us, the Xtreamer ought to enable our potential customer to enjoy their content when, where, and how they want to, with no hassles or added fees and without extensive research in forums or going through the hastle of vague terms in settings screen.

Most of us already owe a media player of whatever brand and paid once for DVDs or cable or satellite subscriptions. Xtreamer device is a natural complimentary to those as you shouldn't have to pay again to watch the same content on your TV on a modern device and have to get a "loan" in the bank for it.

While we will attempt putting aside corporate bureaucracy to engage in an open and honest dialogue with all our users we will create here a beta testing group and assign several key people to be Xtreamer gurus that will be able to take their knowledge and power to the benefit of all. Whether you're an average user who just wants powerful, easy-to-use products or you're the world's biggest geek, we depend on your input to help make our products great for everyone.

Releasing big chunk of the Xtreamer source code to the community is our way to value your investment of time and money in our devices.

By unleashing the creativity from our ever-expanding community of super-users and open source developers, the world's smartest and most passionate consumers, by publishing our source code and encouraging our community to work side-by-side with our internal development team, we hope you will get greater value for you money.

Mainstream users will surely benefit because the community helps provide support for new devices and formats to protect against obsolescence and exciting new features (which will be made available for free to everybody via downloadable software upgrades);

Our developers will hopefully get their efforts recognized and included in official releases; and, of course, we get to provide an outstanding product and user experience.

Feel Free to enjoy and share it,

Upon Launch time of the product we will publish here full thread with all the goodies . Dont flood us with questions as to when. we will inform here as soon as we are ready.

When you say source code, are we talking about the source code for the Xtreamer?

What about the realtek side of things? Will their libraries be kept closed?

I'm not sure what beta testing and open source development have in common but I look forward to being provided the opportunity. I still am very confused about shipping 25 days to Canada by UPS seems outrageous.

@arztde Hello again, hopefully the promises will be fulfilled.

I think I have enough exotic formats of files, and I offer my very little spare time to help making the Xtreamer a good product.
